Interior design brief: what it should contain
A good brief turns general preferences into testable requirements for function, budget and timing.
A clear brief before concept design
People and routines
Describe users, daily activities, storage and future needs. Concrete examples are more useful than style labels.
Priorities, budget and deadline
State the total budget, priority order and desired date. The designer can then propose buildable, not merely attractive, solutions.
References and constraints
References communicate preference when you explain what you value. Add dislikes, retained items and known technical restrictions.
