Designer site supervision: what it includes
Designer supervision protects design consistency on site without replacing technical supervision or contractor responsibility.
Quality control for the design intent
The designer’s role on site
The designer periodically checks alignment with the project, clarifies drawings and adapts details when real conditions require it. Visit frequency is defined in the agreement.
What supervision does not cover
Designer supervision is not daily site management, statutory technical control or a workmanship warranty. Those responsibilities remain with appointed specialists and contractors.
How decisions are recorded
Questions, approvals and changes should be recorded in reports or minutes. A shared record reduces errors and protects budget, programme and design intent.

A transparent process
- Define the number and purpose of visits.
- Keep decisions in one shared register.
- Do not build changes without written confirmation.
